Approaching the Finish Line
In 1 week time I hope to launch this website and return to human form.
I have been working vigorously to get this website to an acceptable place where I can launch it and feel good about its initial form. I have been working 12+ hour days, 7 days a week, for 3 weeks now. 1 more week to go – I plan to launch on August 1st if everything goes well. But there is still a lot of work to do and I am driven by an overall obsession with seeing how far I can take this thing.
I had the idea and realized it could make me some money. And since I am currently waiting for some paying work, I kind of need to put my energy into something that might lead in that direction.
After 3 weeks of non-stop work, I realized that I don’t care so much if it does make me money. I believe it will. I believe it will be wildly successful. But if it doesn’t that is fine too. At this point I am on this mission whether I like it or not. I do like it, to be clear, I’m having tons of fun and learning an awful lot. But even if it stopped being fun, I wouldn’t be able to stop until I got to a certain point.
What is that certain point? Well, it has to be a website that I would want to use. Remember, I originally started this project trying to teach myself to become a yoga teacher by building myself a 200 hour yoga teacher training course. Now it’s morphed into something so much bigger and while I still wanted to take a 200 hour course, I now have built something that doesn't stop just there.
I watch a LOT of YouTube videos on all sorts of things. But often the videos lack additional commentary, information about related topics, or provide an easy path to the next video related to that topic. At first, the website will be focused on finding good, existing YouTube videos from other creators, and build detailed lesson plans around those videos. Once I launch the site with an initial set of lessons sourced from other creators, I will start making my own content, alone and with my friends.
I think what makes me uniquely gifted at making this website something truly special (aside from being an elite software architect) is that my entire life is surrounded by these types of yoga practices and modalities. I live in a community where people practice and teach not just yoga but meditation, ayurvedic medicine, and gather frequently for kirtan or cacao ceremonies.
I’ll be recording me and my friends playing music, growing, making and applying medicines, in meditation, in movement and play, in ceremonial mode, and so many other aspects of living a lifestyle that encompasses much of the content on the website. From djembe drums and didgeridoos to temezcals tents and full moon dance parties, there’s an endless source of wisdom and childish innocence right here around me every day.
I think that people are curious about these types of lifestyles and practices. I think that others would be if they had ever heard of them. I hope to provide a gateway to all sorts of ceremonies and ways of looking at the world that will genuinely give people a new understanding of themselves and the world. We all want to have fulfilling lives. What better way than to learn new things and move our bodies! If nothing else, I hope to reach a few people that can really benefit from what I have to offer.
So that’s the plan. Finish the website so I can start using it and trying out the lessons I build. I can also get exposure for my friends that actively work in yoga or health fields. You’ll be able to work with real specialists in breathwork, physiology, physical therapy, energy work, medicine music, indigenous ceremonies, plant medicine, and a lot more.
I will try to keep it well curated so it doesn’t get too messy or hard to use. A lot of the websites I found that tried something like this only ever made a Pose Library and wrote a bunch of blog posts. They are hard to navigate and don’t provide much meaningful information without delving into the minds and opinions of random yoga teachers that you never really get to know.
Any of my users will get to know me. I will be featured in many videos and all the emails from users come directly to me. I intend to be very hands on and answer everyone personally. I am also writing here about my life. I will also be increasingly active on social media as I start making my own videos for the site.
I wish I had more to say about my heart and my life, but honestly I haven’t thought about anything but this website for weeks. I have tried to go socialize but I can only last a couple hours before I am itching to get home and make some more progress on the site.
Luckily it is teaching me a lot about myself. I had been dating someone until recently and I am finding that I really do enjoy being alone. She was wonderful but we really never found a good balance with how much time we spent together and how much time we spent apart. For me now, I am learning that sex and personal relationships sort of take a back seat to my sense of purpose and need to be of service. It’s been an interesting month and I am excited with the new skills I am learning and the insights I am revealing about myself.
Keep checking back or subscribe for new articles. After the launch of this website I can go back to being human again and writing things that genuinely appeal to other human beings. For now, it’s back to the world of JavaScript and AI coding tools.
